Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society – May 10 -the film of the week

This month we are showing The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The name of this society came about as four friends were caught during the German occupation of Guernsey breaching curfew. They claimed they were returning from a book club meeting and came up with this name off the top of their heads(!)

Five years later in 1946, the author Juliet Ashton (Lily James) has been asked through her publisher Sidney Stark(Matthew Goode) to write stories for The Times Literary Supplement.

Her research leads her to discover the existence of the GLPPPS and she goes to Guernsey to find out more about the Society….

Join us at Chilworth Village Hall from 7:15pm. The film starts at 8pm and tickets are £5 at the door. Hot, cold and alcoholic drinks available for sale as well as Loseley ice creams. Each purchase entitles you to a raffle ticket.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Kind regards

Diane Kenny
